First impressions of Lord of the Rings:

I'll never forget the first time that we told our pastor that we had seen Lord of the Rings. His face quickly paled, and he tried very hard to say something, but it was quite difficult. He finally uttered the words out "Lord of the Rings?? The satanic trilogy??"

Typical Christians will never take the time to listen why we really watch Lord of the Rings, and like it for that matter. Chronicles of Narnia is a very popular Christian allegory for children, and families, but Lord of the Rings hardly ever past the tests. Unlike most Christians families, I grew up with Lord of the Rings. Though I had never really taken interest to them until the movies came out, they were always there. I remember dad reading them to us, and then after he was finished he would tell what it represented from the Bible. So, the thought of Lord of the Rings being evil, never even entered my mind.

If you look at the poster above, you can probably see why many people judge the movies by their first impression. Because if I had seen the cover, and had NO idea what the movie was truly about, I would guessed it to be some Harry Potter movie or something like that. But no, its the complete opposite! Tolkien meant for this powerful trilogy to change people lives, and in truth it has! I have actually met people who have gotten saved after watching Lord of the Rings.

I'll repeat, Lord of the Rings was never new to me. When they made the movies, I was like okay, whatever I'll go. But when I finished watching Fellowship of the Ring, I was just completely in awe. The whole thing just blew me away! Though my family hates going to theaters with me, cause I have this bad habit of talking out loud, throughout the whole thing, and I'm still laughing like 5 minutes after the funny thing happened(ect. "The dwarf breathed so loud, we could have shot him in the dark":) At the end, I had just fallen in love with elves. And today Haldir still remains number 1 on my list(excluding Gandalf;). And I have to admit, it really ticked me off when they left Glorfindel out(at first). But then I realized that they had to introduce Arwen's character in a way that the audience would instantly learn to like her. I was sort of taken back by Pippin and Merry's character though, considering that they were hardly that "playful" in the books. But I knew that it was important to have comic relief in the films. Boromir was cool, though he will never be my favorite. He had a very awesome redemption, everyone in the audience clapped for him when he finished saying "I would have followed you my brother, my captain, my king." So I didn't hear Aragorn say "Be at peace, Son of Gondor." I ended up crying like the whole thing(which I am NOT known for doing!).

Just my review though! I believe Estel will be writing her review too!

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH EVERYTHING!!!
PLEASE PRAY THAT MY PARENTS WILL LET ME SEE THE EXTENDED VERSION!
PRAY HARD! I REALLY WANT TO SEE IT! :)
I LOVE HALDIR, HE IS SO GREAT!
AND EOMER IS SUCH A MAN, TOO! I AM TYPING BIG BECAUSE I WANT TOO.
I ACTUALLY CRIED DURING LORD OF THE RINGS, AND THAT IS VERY UNUSUAL FOR ME! IT WAS POWERFUL. GOD REALLY USED TOLKEIN, TO CHANGE LIVES, AND PREDICT THE FUTURE.
AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!

Very nice review. I'd have to say I had tears in my eye's at the end of he 3rd one. and in other places in the movies.
I know what you mean Merliwen, I was still laughing 5 minutes after that part too. =D
Still do. That movie has some pretty funny parts and me and my brother quote them from time to time =D
I am in the process of reading the books, my Dad said they explain something better and are just as good as the movies.

I think Sam makes the movie what it is and he is the Fellowship of the Ring. I mean, think about it... if Sam wasn't there to help Frodo when he was paralized by Shelob [that spider in the third movie], those Uruk-Hai and that Orc would've gotten the One Ring and the whole quest would've failed and Frodo would've been killed or worse. Sam is the reason the One Ring was destroyed. For me, he symbolizes an angel in the movie. An angel that is watching over Frodo, leading him in the right path, a friend to talk to when there's no one else. Now, it may be hard for you to believe after all I just said, but Sam is not my favorite character. These are my favorites... Legolas, Arwen, Faramir, Frodo, Pippin and Eowyn.
